It was always a ruse, and a marketing ploy. To begin with most of the articles were concerning customer’s inability to gain web access. Web programming is something you really should not use COBOL for. Secondly the affected states claim about accessibility; could be attributed to their workload capacity. That would be in the realm of design issues for the front-end servers IMHO. If this is the case , then all of this screaming for help is thereby rendered totally bogus. One good thing that came out of this ,I do enjoy connecting with Mainframe retirees. Remember… “Don’t believe the hype…” next time
