My name is Bruce Axtens. I am a language track maintainer at Exercism.org. I’m currently working on the VB.NET track.
Today I requested to create a COBOL track, with GnuCOBOL as the targeted compiler. However, I am not a professional COBOL developer. I learned VAX-11 COBOL in 1983 but never got to use it professionally.
Recently Exercism became “… the official mentoring platform for GoBridge and the Go Developer Network.” See link.
I would be rather nice if a COBOL vendor like IBM came in and created a similar relationship with Exercism. We need to keep COBOL visible and encourage developers to add familiarity, even expertise, with it to their CVs.
